Christmas Letter 2016

Apparently this past year was busier than I realized as seen below by the most “recent” blog post…Christmas Letter 2015. My New Year resolution has just been established! 🎉

Hello family and friends! We hope this message finds you in good health and joyful spirit! Our year has been a busy one that began with Juaquin and I sitting down and considering how our future may look should we stay in our Pilot Point location. We pro and conned it all. PROS: loved having a little land for hens, barn kitties, vegetable garden, swimming and we both appreciated having jobs we enjoyed CONS: a LOT of mowing, pool care gets old & expensive, Dallas sprawl was growing quickly, need for a bit more square feet to welcome kids and grand kiddies and we simply wanted to be nearer the FW in DFW.

We started searching Zillow and Realtor.com and found a place just outside the city limits of Granbury, Texas. We both knew Granbury well. Growing up, it was the first tiny town we would pass through as we journeyed 3 hours to Brady, Texas to visit my dad’s family. For Juaquin, there was a family lake lot where he spent many summer weekends with his dad and siblings camping, fishing and running trot lines.
Granbury is also where we married…in the court house…32+ years ago, but that’s for another post. 😊 💕

So, here we are in a house that needs lots of TLC. A funky house on just under 1 acre, where Juaquin can garden and I can set up our nesting boxes for hens (eventually) and where we can jump in a canoe and venture up and down the Brazos River.
In many ways we truly feel that we have come home. We are so familiar with this area and getting to Fort Worth is smooth sailing compared to the I-35 north corridor. We hope to have this house in home-mode by summer.

The energy and stress that come with the buying and selling of a home were fortunately sprinkled with the joyful news that another grand baby was due in October. Sweet Hannah Marie was welcomed into the world by Stephen, Jana and big sister Sadie. They are all doing well as they settle into their new home (and Air Force assignment) in the beautiful Northwest.

Joshua, Sarah and Harrison continue to do well in Austin. They are in a lovely home where Harry has lots of room to run around with their dog, Bear and kitty George.

Seth continues to plug away with projects on his house when not at work with Texas Air National Guard. He has been a great help to us this year as we trekked from Pilot Point to Gbury! We honestly could not have done it without him.

Juaquin and I sure enjoy keeping up with you all! My Facebook connection to some of you makes that very easy. The Christmas letters from others is a welcome treat. Keep ’em coming! Thoughts and prayers are with you all throughout the year! I have included lots of pictures below.
🎄☃️🎄 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to each of you!🎄☃️🎄

  1. Great that you are closer to Brady and congratulations on being a grandma again!!! Beautiful little Hannah! I always look forward to your Christmas Letters and I love the pictures. You certainly have been busy this year. I do have one question… 🤔… did you bring all the kitties and hens with you to Granbury? Have a Merry Christmas! 🎄Hope to see you soon.☃️ Becky.

    • Thanks, Becky! We look forward to daytripping to Brady now that we are closer. As for the kitties, Boo and Prince Willy Nilly, the new owner agreed to keep them! That was bitter-sweet as we loved seeing them everyday, but we are glad they were staying in “their” barn. They were excellent mousers. As for the hens, I became friends with a couple in Denton that raised hens for the sole purpose of collecting eggs for the community food pantry. The ministry is called Hesed Egg Ministry and we donated hundreds of extra eggs to them over the past three years. After a 10 day quarantine, our girls were introduced and settled in very well with the other hens. 🐓💕🐓💕

  2. Thanks for sharing. Some really great pics, but even better memories. Can hardly wait to see y’alls new place! : )
